Slow and Steady Change: Images of the Grand Canyon

I’m always fascinated by nature, especially when I’m able to see within it how the landscape has changed over time. It’s amazing that the Colorado river, which is now over 6000 feet below the top of the Grand Canyon, was once flowing at an even height with the land. And even more incredible, is that change and transformation will continue as the river continues to carve the canyon, falling deeper until it reaches sea level.

Seeing the result of slow and steady change through the Grand Canyon was a reminder for me to continue to take slow and steady steps towards what I want to create. Sometimes I want everything to change right away and have a hard time accepting where I am. Other times when change does come, I cling to the past afraid to move forward, afraid of going into the unknown. When I accept where I’m at and continue to move forward at a steady pace, everything transforms beautifully, in perfect timing. Abrupt sudden change is sometimes necessary, but slow and steady transformation is powerful without disruption. It’s living within the flow of the environment, working with it instead of against it. Ultimately that is what I want, and looking at these pictures again reminds me of that.
